B. Dan's Tips:

  1. Stay away from fat burning formulas (pills or liquids) that contain high levels of caffeine (Guarana), ephedra (Ma Huang), and Vanadium (Silver).  These ingredients can lead to high blood pressure, high resting heart rate, strokes, and long term health problems.

  2. Do not drink too much coffee.  The caffeine can increase your blood pressure.

  3. Drink plenty of water each day.  It will help prevent kidney stones.

  4. Be careful with over the counter sinus/cold medicines, especially if you are a regular coffee drinker.  You take a risk of developing high blood pressure.  If this happens, you cannot exercise until your blood pressure is normal (which can take 1-14 days).

  5. Sinus/cold medicines bought over the counter may contain substances that can ban you from athletic competition.
